The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has amended its rules governing intermodal equipment which became effective in December 2008. The amendments are effective immediately. Among other things, the amendments permit use of the Global Intermodal Equipment Registry, developed by the Intermodal Association of North America, to meet equipment identification requirements, and extend, from December 17, 2009 to June 30, 2010, the deadline for compliance with certain provisions pertaining to driver-vehicle inspections.
